Alchemy Architects has teamed up with specialist manufacturer Plant Prefab on a series of rustic net-zero energy dwellings dubbed lightHouse LivingHomes.

The St Paul-based practice says its new range of LightHouse auxiliary dwelling units is ‘inspired by poetics of the industrial and agrarian landscapes.’ Five floorplans are available, ranging from 310 sq ft to 600 sq ft, in compliance with most US city and county ADU guidelines. These rules allow the structures to be built as secondary dwellings, guest accommodation or studio spaces in proximity to a main home.

Eco-creds include a high-performance envelope with thermally broken elements, energy-efficient windows, low-energy mechanical core and raw firs plywood interiors. Owners can also customise built-in oak furnishings and finishes across the prefabs.

The tiny homes are POA and can be built atop existing structures such as storage units or garages, or placed on permanent, permitter or slab foundations.

Plant Prefab previously unveiled its Nordic-inspired collaboration with Koto Design – a pair of cabins with charred timber exteriors and minimalist pale wood interiors.
