BROOK PARK, Ohio -- Plans for Brook Park’s Central Park continue to take shape, with City Council at a special meeting Tuesday (April 26) approving the purchase and installation of a precast concrete restroom building near the new amphitheater.

The authorized cost is $90,000, with $78,955 designated for CXT Inc. for the concrete structure and $11,045 for the Brook Park Service Department to install a sidewalk and utility hookups.

The city will use two grants totaling $150,000 to cover the costs, Mayor Ed Orcutt said. The remaining grant balance will be used to renovate other Central Park restrooms.

“Working with the recreation director, we’re looking for a neutral color (for the new restroom) that will match the restroom buildings we already have,” Orcutt explained.

Councilman Tom Troyer clarified with the mayor that the amount allocated for the service department work is for supplies only.

The building will be constructed offsite, then delivered to the city.

“Included in the price is a crane rental and for the company to come out and drop it right in place,” Recreation Director Andres Gonzalez confirmed. “We will then install the utilities.”

Gonzalez will place the order, but noted that a definitive date for delivery and installation is not yet known.
