So we combed through Vrbo’s just-released list of the best vacation homes on its site — chosen based on the number of five-star ratings and bookings, guest reviews, and family-friend amenities — as well as other home rental sites, to find some of the most compelling properties for rent now. And if you’re looking to plan your own vacation, you can hunt for homes on Vrbo here, as well as spots like TripAdviser and Airbnb.

If you want ultra-chic surroundings: A designer retreat in Palm Springs, California, for an average of $499 per night

Located in the Little Tuscany neighborhood of Palm Springs, which offers beautiful views of the San Jacinto Mountains, this three-bedroom, three-bathoom home was recently remodeled, and features a large yard with a pool, spa, alfresco dining area, fire pit and bocce ball court. Notable for its eclectic and colorful décor, the home is located close to downtown Palm Springs, which features the Palm Springs Art Museum, as well as myriad galleries, boutiques and restaurants including Melvyn’s at Ingleside Inn, where Frank Sinatra reputedly used to hang out. The home makes Vrbo’s list for its promise of easy, outdoor living, as well as for featuring amenities including a Peloton bike.

If you’ve got Hawaii on your mind: This oceanfront retreat on Hawaii Island, Hawaii for an average of $1,400 a night

Offering spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean from a bluff over Waikoloa Beach, this 3500-square-foot home also includes an infinity pool, a chef’s kitchen, two master suites with ocean views and a third bedroom with views of the garden. During the stay, sip on wine in a lounge chair in the shallow end of the pool while you watch whales and dolphins swim in the Pacific, and at night, enjoy the full spectrum of an unpolluted, starry sky. This little cabin isn’t a party house (it sleeps two), but it does have plenty of amenities like an outdoor hot tub, indoor jacuzzi in the master bedroom, two flat screens, grill, pool table and fireplace — all located on a mountain ridge with beautiful views from the living room. Gatlinburg, is a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so during the day, you can hike, birdwatch and more.

If you want gorgeous mountain views: This remote mountain lodge in Big Sky, Montana for an average of $1,000 a night

If you prefer the mountains over the ocean, you’ll find everything you need in this 4,000-square-foot rental on twenty acres of mountainous land near Big Sky. Along with four bedrooms and 4.5 baths, the house has a hot tub, two stone fireplaces, a fire pit and a deck equipped with a grill and outdoor seating. Guests can enjoy golf, ziplining tours, mountain bikes and guided hikes at nearby Big Sky Resort. Other attractions include the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, which offers live performances, and access to Yellowstone National Park. Just an hour from Bozeman’s Gallatin Field airport, this home landed on the list due to its views, according to Vrbo.

If you’re angling for a little #lakelife: This glass house in Osage Beach, Missouri Price: About $1,200 a night

With stunning lake views from almost every room, this home sits perched on rock cliffs with waterfalls into the lake below (hello zen!) – but it’s still minutes from shopping and dining. The home offers five bedrooms with TVs and four-and-a-half bathrooms; a large, fully stocked chef’s kitchen; living room with wet bar, fireplace and large TV; and plenty of room for outdoor dining.

If you’re traveling with a big group: This modern cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, averaging $652 a night

Ideal for large groups traveling together with extended families or friend groups, this four-bedroom home features 27 beds, including 12 built-in bunk beds in the second floor game room. Located on 1.5 acres of land just outside of Broken Bow, which is known as the gateway to Beavers Bend State Park, the property includes a fire pit with 10 Adirondack chairs, an outdoor play set, a covered patio with a grill and both poker and pool tables. If you want to hobnob with some billionaires: This contemporary farmhouse in East Hampton, New York, averaging $2,914 a night

East Hampton is notorious for its celebrity and billionaire residents, and you can live among them, at least temporarily, in this sleek, minimalist farmhouse that bills itself as containing “fifty shades of greige,” a warm color that combines gray and beige. The house, which has five bedrooms, includes an open floor plan, gourmet kitchen, pool, spa and screening room with a 15-foot movie screen. Located just a 10-minute walk from Georgica Beach, a public beach on the Atlantic Ocean, the home offers plenty of access to cultural and nightlife hotspots, including the Watermill Center, an exhibition and performance space, and Rowdy Hall, a French-inspired bistro pub that is reputedly a favorite of Jerry Seinfeld. The house made the list for its location, rave reviews and for its five-star amenities and private pool.
