MALDEN, MA — Malden community members will gather at Pine Banks Park later this month for the city’s 2022 Fairy House Festival.

Set for Aug. 27 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the annual event is organized by Ward 5 City Councilor Barbara Murphy, working with the Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation, Pine Banks Park and the Malden Public Library.

Fairy houses are whimsical small structures usually built in forest areas.

Community members can pre-build a house in the area or make one on the day of the Fairy House Festival. Pre-built houses will qualify for a Fairy House Walk contest.

Attendees at this year’s festival can get creative at the event’s arts and crafts table.

“Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day at Pine Banks Park, a beautiful natural habitat located in Malden,” the city said in a recent event announcement.
